
Drama / Presentation Skills Class Overview
The Westport School Systems Presentation and Drama Skills (PDS) program has three distinct parts. Parts one and two, presentation and drama, will be taught through direct instruction in the drama and presentation skills classroom. Part three, the assured experience, will be delivered in the mainstream classroom. It will reflect a collaboration between the mainstream and DPS teachers.
PROGRAM GOALS
As a result of presentation and drama education in grades 6-8, students will:
demonstrate presentation skills
- projection -concentration -vocal inflection
- breath control -diction -control of isolated body parts
-body alignment
create drama through improvising, writing, and refining scripts
act by developing, communicating, and sustaining characters
make connections between dramatic presentation and daily life.
