Albert Peterson
Albert (early thirties), President of Almaelou Music Corp, manages a very popular rock star -- Conrad Birdie. To play the role of Albert you need to have strong acting skills, a good voice and be able to dance fairly well. Albert’s major moments include: "Put On A Happy Face," "Healthy Normal American Boy," "Everything is Rosie."

 

Rose Alvarez
Albert’s secretary, strong-willed, smart, of Spanish heritage, patience of a saint when I comes to Albert and his overbearing mother. To play the role of Rose Alvarez you to need to have strong acting, singing and dancing skills. Rose has a major solo song and dance number at the end of the play. Her major moments include: "Healthy Normal American Boy," "What Did I Ever See In Him," and "Spanish Rose."

Kim McAfee
Kim is a 15 year old teenager living in the small town of Sweet Apple, Ohio in the 1950’s. She is pretty and very self-confident. To play the role of Kim you need to have both strong acting and singing skills. Dancing is required but there are no solo dance numbers for Kim. Her major song, "One Boy" goes up to an A. She also sings "Gotta a Lot of Livin," " How Lovely To Be a Woman," and "What Did I Ever See In Him."

 

Conrad Birdie
Teen idol -rock star - a la "Elvis Presley." The person who plays Conrad must be able to move like Elvis and sing like Elvis. You really can’t be shy and retiring for this role – the more over the top you are the better. Major moments include: "Honestly Sincere," "One Last Kiss," and "Gotta A Lot A Livn’ To Do."

Mr. Harry McAfee
Mr. McAfee is a typical father from the 50’s – he’s a little old fashioned, thinks he’s the boss of the house (but isn’t) and is frustrated by everyone around him.

Mr. McAfee has some of the funniest lines in the play. To play this role you need to be a strong comedic actor with moderately good singing skills. Mr. McAfee’s big numbers include "Kids" and "Ed Sullivan."

Mrs. Mae Peterson
Overbearing mother of Albert Peterson. This is a big, comedic role that does not require any singing. The person who plays Mrs. Peterson must have strong acting skills and good comic timing.

Mrs. Doris McAfee - Wife of Harry McAfee and Kim’s mother. Typical 50’s housewife. Steady, calm, in control of a nervous, grouchy husband and a hysterical teenage daughter. Mrs.McAfee has many speaking lines and only a small vocal part in "Kids."

Ursula
A hyper-enthusiastic, President of the Conrad Birdie Fan Club. She is Kim’s best friend and neighbor. Need strong acting, singing and dancing skills. Ursula sings either solo part or small ensemble parts in "One Boy," "How Lovely To Be A Woman," and Telephone Hour.

Randolph McAfee  The 10 year old son of Harry and Doris. Role has many speaking lines and only a small vocal part in "Kids."

 

Gloria Rasputin   Albert’s mom introduces Gloria to Albert in a ploy to rid Rosie from her son’s life. Gloria is a Tap dancing blonde bombshell. She has one big scene with many funny lines and a brief, over-the-top tap dance number.

4-6 teen girls will be part of a small ensemble to be featured in one or more of the following numbers: "One Boy," Telephone Hour," and "How Lovely To Be a Woman."

Ed Sullivan Ensemble a select group of teens and parents will join the McAfee family in singing the "Ed Sullivan Hour."
